Before diving into benchmarks, a note on where these numbers come from and how to apply them.
This page draws from three source types: published third-party research (Google Search Console industry studies, BrightLocal's annual local search reports, Moz's local ranking factor surveys), observed ranges from campaigns we've managed for locksmith businesses, and general search data from keyword research tools including Semrush and Ahrefs.
Where we cite a range rather than a precise figure, that's intentional. Locksmith SEO performance varies substantially based on:
- Market size — a locksmith in a metro of 2 million competes differently than one in a city of 80,000
- Service mix — automotive, residential, and commercial locksmith terms have different search volumes and competitive profiles
- Starting authority — a two-year-old GBP with 200 reviews starts from a very different baseline than a new listing
- Ad density — markets with heavy Google Ads spend compress organic and local pack click-through rates
We do not fabricate precise percentages. Where published sources provide specific figures, we cite them. Where we draw on campaign experience, we use qualified language: 'in our experience', 'benchmarks suggest', or 'many operators report'.
Disclaimer: Benchmarks on this page are general reference points, not guarantees of performance for any individual business. Treat them as direction indicators, not targets you should expect to hit exactly.
