Automated crawlers are useful for collecting evidence, but their warnings still need interpretation. A technical warning does not establish business priority by itself. For example, a 301 path affecting a low-value legacy URL and a set of 400 weak category pages are different problems even if both appear prominently in an export. The audit should determine where each issue occurs, whether Google is encountering it, and whether the affected pages are intended to compete in organic search.

Then evaluate page content and internal relationships. Only after those layers are understood should the audit use backlink evidence to judge whether external authority is a limiting factor.
The outcome is a set of testable findings. For every finding, record the evidence required, the condition that counts as a failure, the severity, the implementation owner, the corrective action, and the post-change check that will confirm whether the repair worked.
